Tech Thurday

It’s been long, I know, but I’m going to be frequent from now on! Tomorrow’s my last exam for my final year of A Levels and then I’ll be able to breathe out a sigh of relief. Although I did found out that I’d still might have to study Chemistry for the first year of university and I’m not happy about that. I liked the first half of the course but Grade 12 Chemistry left my brain all scrambled and now I have a love-hate relationship going on. I just don’t understand why I’d need Chemistry while learning software development and programming. To know what stress relief pills are made of when you need to pop one in?

Anyway, for this Tech Thursday, I’m forming a list of jobs that students who are fascinated by Computer Science, whether it be software or hardware, can look forward to. I’m a software lover, if you’re curious.

Disclaimer: I’m just an amateur so please don’t go taking my words as solemnly as the words of Google.

Here we go:

  1. Computer System Analyst
  2. Software Developer
  3. Web Developer
  4. IT Manager
  5. Information Security Analyst
  6. Database Administrator
  7. Computer Support Specialist
  8. Computer Systems Administrator

All of these lie in the 100 best jobs a person could have. Of course, you should not seek these positions just because they’re in the top 100, you should find the field you love and work there. You’ll need that self-satisfaction for the long run after all. And if the job you have set your sight on doesn’t lie in this list, do not worry because the era of technology has just started. This field is bound to be huge in the future, I tell you.

I’m not going to lie, the reason I typed this post today was for a selfish purpose; I just wanted to console myself. This is a simple blog post after all. Over here, there are only a few women who pursue this career – well, I’m not pursuing it yet since I’m just in high school but this sounds mature, doesn’t it? – so I wanted to console myself that the path I’m taking would be right for the long run. And I hope anyone out there, who’s worried about their future like me, would see this and feel a sense of relief.

I’m sorry that I’m still stuck in my serious mode but I’m sure this period will soon be over. I hope.
